Tearing resistance
The resistance of a material opposes to cutting, when a tension stress is applied, is measured in kN/m.

Tear Resistance
The tear resistance of an elastomer (ASTM D624) is important for all dynamic applications, and particularly important for those where there is a risk of significant surface cuts (passing over a port), which could easily induce tears, resulting in the item’s complete destruction
Determining the wear resistance (ASTM D394) is essential for a correct evaluation in dynamic sealing applications. The factors taken into account are polymer type, hardness, surface finishing, lubrication, relative speeds and operating environment.
